NEW: Hailstorm leaves trail of destruction at Uzumba school

A HAILSTORM left a trail of destruction in Uzumba on Monday afternoon, destroying several properties.

According to reports, Mashambanhaka Primary School was the most damaged.

The storm is reported to have left villagers counting their losses, after some houses had their roofs blown off.

At Mashambanhaka Primary School, the hailstorm destroyed 11 classrooms.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Ministry permanent secretary, Mr Nick Mangwana, confirmed the incident on his Twitter handle.

“Yesterday afternoon, a violent storm swept through parts of Uzumba constituency destroying a total of 11 classrooms and six of them quite severely. Mashambanhaka Primary School lost half of its classrooms, affecting learners preparing for Grade Seven exams. No one has been injured,” tweeted Mr Mangwana.
