THE Harare-Beitbridge Highway is now 58 percent complete following the recent completion of a 22-kilometre stretch, Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona has said.

Speaking at Tuesday’s post-Cabinet briefing, Minister Mhona indicated that the rehabilitation programme has so far seen the construction of 336 kilometres out of the targeted 582 kilometres.

“Twenty-two (22) kilometres of the Harare-Beitbridge road have been constructed, with surfacing having been halted due to low temperatures. This brings the cumulative total distance constructed and opened to traffic to 336 kilometres,” he said.

Completion of the Harare-Beitbridge road is set to make the North-South Corridor efficient as a gateway to the region and beyond.

Separately, Minister Mhona also said administration offices and laboratory for the Beitbridge Border Post Modernisation project are 95 percent complete.
