Harare City Volleyball dominated the accolades chart, grabbing seven of the available 12 individual medals at the Harare Volleyball Association League finals, at the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) over the weekend.

The Municipality’s women side finished top of their league, while the men ended their season in second place, behind NABA.

In the women’ category, renowned star, Nyengeterai Guyo, bagged the ‘Best Server’ and ‘Most Valuable’ player accolades, while Kudzai Zinhumwe and Hazel Sanyika emerged as ‘Best Setter’ and ‘Best Libero’, respectively.

Leading from the men’s side, skipper Blessing Manhai, was awarded for his blocking prowess, while Tazviona Zvirahwa and Charles Nyamasve were crowned the ‘Best Setter’ and ‘Best Attacker’, respectively.

Team manager, Godknows Jembere, paid tribute to the individuals.

However, he also acknowledged the team, saying the accolades are a result of teamwork.

“We are happy with the team’s performance, because bagging such a number of individual accolades means we are doing something right as a team.

“Despite feeling that there is still room to do more, so far, these achievements mean we are getting somewhere, we simply need to stay focused and aim higher,” he said.
