A Harare-based prophet has taken legal action against a man who accuses him of impregnating his wife.
Edson Chirimani appeared before the Harare Civil Court on Wednesday seeking a peace order against Nigel Furaijo.
Chirimani said Furaijo has been harassing him through messages and had even threatened to disrupt his church.
“He sent me WhatsApp messages with pictures of his wife, asking if I knew her,” he said.
“The second time, he sent the same pictures, and I explained that she had only come to me for prophetic services.”
Chirimani further alleged that Furaijo later accused him of being responsible for his wife’s pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage, demanding that he pay for the damages.
“He said if I refused, he would come to my house and publicly embarrass me in front of my congregation,” he said.
In response, Furaijo insisted that the prophet is responsible for the said pregnancy.
He, however, denied harassing Chirimani, stating that he simply wanted to discuss the matter with him.
“I spoke to my wife, and she admitted that the baby was his,” said Furaijo.
“He has also communicated with her relatives about the pregnancy. But when I confronted him at his house, he denied knowing her in that way.”
Presiding magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam ruled that Furaijo must refrain from insulting or threatening Chirimani.
