A 42-YEAR-OLD Sakubva man recently appeared in court charged with theft of goods from a Mutare hardware.

Gift Chenjerai pleaded not guilty to stealing hardware material from the shop two months ago.

Mutare magistrate, Ms Prisca Manhibi presided over the case and remanded him out of custody to April 19 on $50 000 bail.

Prosecuting, Mr Thaston Mubvumbi told the court that sometime in January, Chenjerai entered the shop, took goods worth over $300 000 and went away without paying.

“Chenjerai did not pay for the goods he took from the shop and left unnoticed. The matter only came to light during a routine stock check when the shop’s employee, Mr Talent Mudiwa discovered the theft through CCTV footage,” said Mr Mubvumbi.

A police report was made, leading to Chenjerai’s arrest following investigations.
