THE Harare City Council (HCC) is roping in water purifying firm, Nanotech Solutions, to upgrade the Morton Jaffray Water Treatment Plant so that it can use alternative, cost-efficient water treatment chemicals.
The company is set to bring technology and expertise expected to improve the city’s supply of potable water.
In an interview with The Sunday Mail Online, HCC communications manager, Mr Innocent Ruwende, confirmed the development.
He said the municipality has converted US$1 million equivalent through the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) to pay for Nanotech’s services.
“RBZ has given us US$1 million to pay Nanotech so that they can be on site to upgrade the plant by introducing their chemical solution, which will reduce the number of chemicals used by the City from eight to four.
“Nanotech will bring long-lasting solutions to water problems in the country,” Mr Ruwende said. Nanotech Solutions is currently implementing such systems in Mozambique, South-Africa and Botswana.
