NEW: Hwange Unit 7 to add 300MW to grid in November

The ongoing expansion and rehabilitation at Hwange Power Station will start bearing fruit soon, as Unit 7 is on schedule to feed 300MW into the grid in November, a Cabinet Minister has said.

Energy and Power Development Minister Zhemu Soda said this when he introduced two new members of the ZESA Holdings board of directors, Messrs Mandivengerei Shumbaimwe and Andrew Jemedze.

“Unit 8 will be expected to come through in the first quarter of 2023 to feed the additional 300MW from the expansion project,” he said.

When the expansion is complete, the thermal power plants’ installed capacity will increase from the current 920MW to 1 520MW. – – New Ziana/Sunday Mail Online
