The Zimbabwe Fish Producers Association, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), and the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture Resources (FARD), will host the inaugural Fish Fair tomorrow at Harare Gardens.

The event is part of the FISH4ACP initiative, a global program supported by the European Union and FAO aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of communities in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific (ACP) through the fisheries sector.

Mrs Chenjemulene Madzivanyika, a fisheries officer at FARD, highlighted that the introduction of fish fairs is a key initiative to boost fish marketing and raise awareness of fish products.

“The Fish Fair will provide a platform for industry stakeholders to come together, discuss challenges, interact with government representatives, and explore issues such as production, markets, raw materials, equipment, education, technology, and industry strategies,” she said.

The public is invited to attend the event, which will feature exhibitions from producers, retailers, and suppliers, as well as cooking competitions.
