GOVERNMENT is taking note of and incorporating the advancements in technology and emerging new threats such as disinformation and atrocity propaganda on the social media.

This was said by Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr Nick Mangwana, in his opening remarks during the Ministry’s strategic planning review workshop which started today here at a Vumba hotel.

The theme of the workshop is: ‘Re-engineering information, publicity and broadcasting services to facilitate a two-way communication strategy’.

“The strategies we craft here should seek to promote quality and inclusive service delivery as we mould national consciousness, defend, uphold, and promote Zimbabwe’s interests and aspirations worldwide.

“Let us also take note and incorporate the advancements in technology and emerging new threats such as disinformation and atrocity propaganda on social media. These require us to craft proactive and dynamic strategies.

“We remain unyielding and strategically focused on our vision, to be a “Real-time disseminator of Zimbabwean information locally and globally supporting the 2030 national vision,” said Mr Mangwana.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Dr Jenfan Muswere is expected to deliver a keynote address at the workshop on Wednesday.

Among the expected outputs of the workshop are reviewing the strategic planning, 2024 annual plan and the 2024 performance contracts.
