New interim Alumni Committee for School of Hospitality and Tourism

Herald Correspondent

The School of Hospitality and Tourism (SCHOTO) in Bulawayo has launched a new interim alumni committee, comprising graduates from various disciplines.

This voluntary committee will serve until January 2026, when a permanent leadership will be elected.

The primary objective of this alumni association is to give back to the community and the school, ensuring graduates remain updated with industry trends and prepared for the demands of modern tourism and hospitality.

To achieve this, the association will act as a bridge between industry and school, providing students with practical training and helping the school maintain strong relationships with employers and industry bodies.

It will also facilitate networking and mentorship, connecting graduates across generations to share job opportunities, career advice, and support.

Additionally, the association will give back financially and in-kind, funding scholarships, providing equipment, and contributing to key school projects.

It will support student success, ensuring deserving students can continue their studies regardless of financial challenges.

The association will also strengthen the school’s reputation, showcasing its success through the achievements of its graduates.

Furthermore, the association will foster community engagement, expand community programs, support informal training initiatives, and build local partnerships. It will also preserve school heritage, keeping the rich history and values of SCHOTO alive for future generations.

SCHOTO has a proud history, dating back to 1963, and has grown to become a flagship hotel school.

The alumni association invites all former students to stay connected, support the school’s mission, and shape the future of hospitality and tourism training in Zimbabwe.

Interested graduates can contact the school for more information on joining, donating, or getting involved.
