Award-winning gospel musician Janet Manyowa says she is ready for an extraordinary worship night at the Call to Worship Global Annual Worship event set for Harare Gardens on Saturday next week.

The event has become an important part of Zimbabwe’s Christian calendar.

This year’s edition will feature a star-studded lineup of local and international worship leaders, including South Africa’s top gospel artiste Ntokozo Mbambo, alongside the Call to Worship Global Choir and the AFM of Zimbabwe Worship Team.

For Manyowa, a unique and powerful voice in Zimbabwean gospel music for the past decade, preparation is a spiritual discipline.

“We can rehearse the chords, but we must surrender our hearts. My team and I are preparing not just to sing songs, but to usher in the presence of God,” she said.

“We are believing God for a night where the atmosphere in Harare Gardens shifts from a concert to a courtroom – where the King of Kings presides and sets the captives free.”

She emphasised the importance of such gatherings in uniting believers, framing worship as a spiritual act of surrender to God and of submission to His divine will.

“When the weight of the world feels heavy, our worship becomes our declaration,” added Manyowa.

“This night is not an escape from our personal struggles, but our answer to them. It’s where a thousand individual battles converge at one altar, and we find our strength in our unchanging God. Here, our unity in Christ drowns out the noise of our divisions.”

Founded in 2008 by Apostles Philip and Pastor Charlotte Pike, Call to Worship Global was designed to build a unified altar of worship.

From a small interdenominational gathering, it has grown into a nationwide movement, mobilising over 200 churches and attracting thousands annually.

“Seventeen years ago, God placed a fire in our hearts — not for a show, but for a sanctuary,” said

Apostle Philip Pike.

“This was never about building a stage, but about building an godly altar for Zimbabwe. We are coming to offer one voice, one sound, rising from many tribes and tongues, to the One worthy King.”

The worship night will run under a theme from 1 Chronicles 29:11, a scripture celebrating God’s majesty and sovereignty.

For Manyowa, the event is a milestone in a career marked by ministry and mentorship.

Beyond her chart-topping albums like “King of Glory” and “Sounds of Victory”, as well as her numerous awards, she is a role model and mentor to many.

“My prayer is that everyone who comes burdened will leave lighter,” she said.

“I carry a simple, burning truth: your situation does not have the final say. In the light of His presence, chains break. In the sound of our worship, despair flees. Let’s come expectant, ready to exchange our weariness for His wonder.”
