THE Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) rugby team, known as the Rhinos, left the country on Thursday for Nairobi, Kenya, for the 2025 Africa Universities Rugby Championship.

The competition, which began today, will run until tomorrow.

Rhinos earned the right to represent the country at this year’s tournament after winning gold at this year’s edition of the Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Union (ZTISU) games.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Rhinos coach Takudzwanashe Chinyemba said he was confident the team will do well in the tournament.

“We are prepared and ready for the tournament and we promise the nation that we will bring the gold home,” he said.

“Ever since we won this year’s edition of the ZTISU games, we have never stopped training as we were preparing for this tournament because we know how big these games are. We want to win and raise the national flag high.”

The 2025 Africa Universities Rugby Championship is organised by Federation de Sport Universities and it is part of this year’s FASU games.
