NEW: January-March milk production up 20pc

ZIMBABWE’S milk production in the January to March period increased by 20 percent from a year earlier driven by improved rains.

According to the latest production update by the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, output is likely to continue improving going forward.

“First-quarter production in 2022 increased by 20 percent from 17 million litres in 2021 to 21 million litres,” reads part of the report.

Last year, the country’s milk production improved by 4 percent to 79 million litres from 76 million in 2020.
