JBC and UZ Sparks have emerged as early pacesetters of the Harare Basketball Association (HBA) Super Six League following the two teams’ unbeaten starts to the 2023/24 season.
They now sit on top of the men’s and women’s log standings, respectively.
JBC won 50-45 over Arcadia Bucs at Sunrise Sports Club over the weekend to take their tally to 16 points from eight matches.
Newboys Basket Hounds are second with 14 points from nine matches and were the biggest winners of the weekend following their 70-35 win over UZ Stars.
Bucs are third with 13 points and are tied with Leopards Academy, who narrowly beat bottom-placed Mbare Bulls 68-61.
UZ Stars and Mbare Bulls currently occupy the fifth and sixth relegation spots with 11 and nine points, respectively.
In the women’s category, UZ Stars are perched on top of the division with 18 points from nine games.
Their latest victory came courtesy of a 84-18 win over Fillies, which also happens to be the biggest win of the women’s division over the weekend.
Bunnies had a walkover 20-0 win over JBC women, while Vixens beat Harare City Hornets 62-26.
Defending champions Vixens currently occupy second place with 15 points from nine matches, while JBC (13), Fillies (12), Bunnies (10) and Harare City Hornets (8) round up the women’s standings.
