SATURDAY will certainly be a day to remember for Harare residents that are living with disabilities as a well-wisher is set to donate a consignment of wheelchairs, crutches and other walking aides.

The consignment, which is part of the “Bring-A-Smile 2022” campaign, will be handed over to beneficiaries at Harare Gardens.

Greenlight International Trust (GIT), a non-governmental organisation that works with disadvantaged members of society, is behind the charitable gesture.

The “Bring-A-Smile” campaign is a programme that sources and avails mobility devices for the disabled.

Apart from wheelchairs and crutches, walking frames, Braille bibles, white canes for the blind and skin lotions for people living with albinism will also be distributed for free.

Those that are going to attend the function are going to be entertained by a number of artistes.

Upcoming musician Mukoma Sam, mbira songstress Chipo Muchegwa and gospel musician Shuwa Matuka are billed to perform.

Thae Rock A capella Group and Kudakwashe Runit, a comedian and hip-hop artist, will also perform.

GIT founder Mr Tawanda Makwiramiti said Saturday’s function is part of his organisation’s 10th anniversary commemorations.

“Last year, we donated mobility devices, mostly wheelchairs, to Chivhu residents. This year, we are celebrating our 10th anniversary and we decided to add on more items such as Braille bibles and lotions,” he said.
