NEW: Kadewere out of AFCON qualifiers

Sports Reporter

FRANCE-BASED forward Tino Kadewere has been ruled out of the two opening AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Kenya and Cameroon after suffering an injury over the weekend.

Kadewere was one of the four strikers called by new Warriors coach Michael Nees for the two assignments coming up later this week at the Mandela National Stadium in Uganda.

ZIFA confirmed in a statement that the Nantes forward will not take any part due to the knock.

Nees has also called up Manica Diamonds’ Farai Banda to the squad and the fullback leaves for Uganda today along with defender Teenage Hadebe.

The rest of the players called up for camp have arrived in Kampala except for Marshall Munetsi, Munashe Garananga and Jordan Zemura, who will arrive tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.

The trio was involved in league matches with their clubs in Europe yesterday.

The Warriors are set to hold their first training session Monday afternoon (today) at 3pm.
