THE second edition of the Kariba Carnival and Business Expo is set to light up the beautiful resort town starting on Thursday.
This three-day extravaganza is poised to boost domestic tourism and open Kariba’s doors to business investors.
One of the highlights of the carnival will be a Musical Gala featuring artistes spanning the rich tapestry of Zimbabwe’s music genres.
Samanyanga Cultural Heritage, the driving force behind the event, has attracted over 40 exhibitors, local businesses, talented artisans and innovative entrepreneurs ready to showcase their offerings.
Samanyanga Cultural Heritage director Mr Paul Marimberimbe said all was in place for the event.
“This event is not just about promotion; it is a celebration of Zimbabwe’s tourism potential. We are shining a spotlight on Kariba’s breathtaking landscapes and unique cultural offerings,” he said.
The carnival is also going to connect people from various walks of life as visitors are expected from all over the country.
“This is expected to bring economic growth and a renewed focus on domestic tourism to the region.”
Elyson Chigerwe, the acting deputy director of the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, emphasised the significance of the carnival.
“It perfectly aligns with our Government’s vision for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism,” he said.
“This is a game-changer for the industry, bringing together professionals and enthusiasts for networking and shared experiences.”
The event, he said, was also going to offer opportunities to hoteliers and other players in the industry.
Last year, the event wowed crowds with thrilling performances from Sungura legend Madzibaba Nicholas Zacharia and up-and-coming artiste DT Bio Mudimba.
