NEW: Gokwe woman arrested for draining blood of a 10-year-old girl

POLICE in Gokwe North have arrested a 33-year-old woman on suspicion of draining the blood of a 10-year-old girl at Gokwe Centre.

Mavis Sibanda, a stallholder who sells clothes at Gokwe Centre, is at the centre of the investigation.

The motives behind the alleged act remain unclear.

Midlands Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the shocking incident that has left Gokwe Town residents shell-shocked.

“Zimbabwe Republic Police arrested a 33-year-old woman on allegations of assault involving the draining of blood from a 10-year-old juvenile. The case occurred in Gokwe Town on May 26, 2025, at about 10am,” he said.

“It is alleged that she called a 10-year-old girl who was passing by and injected her with a needle before draining blood that filled the syringe.”

Sibanda was arrested and is currently in police custody.
