Five teenagers from Bulawayo have formed a musical group that is already making waves at social functions in the city.
Members of the group, Swagg Kingz are from Nkulumane 12 suburb.
The group is working on an 18-track album to be titled Frengled (New Kings) which is set to hit the airwaves in January.
The group members are Sipho Samuel Mlilo (19) who is doing Form Four at Foundation College, Faith Dube (19), Nketa High School, Ntando Moyo (18), Form Four at Mncumbatha, Methuseli Mpofu (19), Form Four at Mandwandwe and Elton Ngwenya (19) who finished Form Four and is doing a course in computers.
The song that has suddenly become a darling of many socialites at different events like weddings and gatherings is Valentine.
It is a praise song for one’s lover. The other songs the group has composed are Can’t stop us and Part of my life.
“We are working on releasing an 18-track album early next year. Our music is a fusion of kwaito, rap and hip-hop and it is the kind of music that will touch people’s hearts. We have performed at many talent search shows at Cape to Cairo, Amakhosi Cultural Centre among other venues,” said group spokesperson Sipho.
Ntando said. “Our inspiration comes from other artistes and we want to express our feelings through music.
“Our wish is to gain popularity even on the international market,” he said.
The group is working with Lawuyazi Boy Studios, run by Youths in the Suburb’s upcoming producer Smella Tainments.
