KUDAVANA Children’s Home continues to play a critical role in providing a safe haven and a reason to live for less privileged children in Manicaland.
Through their three-legged approach of tracing and reunion, fostering and adoption, the children’s home located about 42km south of Mutare houses 46 children at its premises.
The children’s ages are between 0 and 18 years.
Kudavana Children’s Home has managed to facilitate the reunification of six children as well as fostering and adoption of six children apiece.
Kudavana Partnership Trust director, Mr William Pepukai has called upon Government, its departments, stakeholders and Angel of Hope Foundation, which aims to support the most vulnerable in society through providing access to healthcare, social services, education and economic empowerment initiatives with particular emphasis on women, youth and children and led by the First Lady, Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, to come on board with support and partnership.
“We have children we receive through the death of their parents, while others will have been disowned and dumped as well as from child-headed families. It is one of the few children’s homes that receives infants with loving and professional social workers, with an on staff psychologist and other social workers. We are an organisation formed to provide care to the orphaned and vulnerable children.
“We have a home that takes care of the little ones, with a nursery that accommodates 10 children. We have a youth transition programme that enables us to take them to school through to university level. We are calling for support as every child deserves a family. They deserve some love,” he said.
The children’s home comprises administrator, Mr Davis Mundirwira, psychologist-cum-social worker, Ms Jotinah Vambire and others who ensure that the place is a loving, peaceful and safe haven.
