THE 11 Zimbabwe national team cricket players that had been shortlisted for India’s inaugural Women’s Premier League auction have missed out on probable call-ups to the event after failing to get suitors from the five Indian franchises.

Skipper Mary-Anne Musonda led the list of Lady Chevrons players who were shortlisted for the auction that was held on Monday in Mumbai, India.

The list also included Ashley Ndiraya, Audrey Mazvishaya, Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, Kelis Ndhlovu, Josephine Nkomo, Loryn Phiri, Modester Mupachikwa, Nomvelo Sibanda, Precious Marange and Sharne Mayers.

The 11 players were among the 163 foreign players involved in the auction.

They battled it out for the available 30 slots reserved for foreigners in the upcoming tournament slated for March 4 to 26.

Lady Chevrons spin bowler Phiri, who was part of the 2021 T-20 ICC Women’s Team of the Year, was one of the 13 foreign players listed at the maximum base price of US$60 000.
