Ireland has selected a formidable team for their tour against the Lady Chevrons, which begins next month.

Zimbabwe will host Ireland in two ODIs and five T20I next month.

The T20I matches will act as one of the preparation matches for the two as they head into the ten-team global qualifier to determine the final two spots for the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup to be held later next year.

The 10 teams to participate at the global qualifiers are, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, UAE, USA, Vanuatu and Uganda.

The visiting Irish senior women’s cricket team for the white-ball tour will be led by experienced women’s senior Laura Delany.

Ireland women’s team selector Ciara O’Brien, believes the tour against Zimbabwe will be competitive as they kick-start their busy schedule for 2024.

“This tour marks the start of a big 12 months for the senior squad, with a busy home and away schedule planned and the potential of a T20 World Cup towards the back end of the year.

“As such, the Zimbabwe series is a crucial part of our preparations and it is always a competitive challenge when these sides meet,” said O’brien.
