Liberation war hero Cde Silas Claver Chipunza, who died on April 10, was buried today at the Harare Provincial Heroes Acre.
Cde Chipunza, whose war name was Sam Chipwanyanemapfupa, died after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
He was declared a liberation war hero.

Cde Chipunza joined the liberation war in 1975 and received military training under ZANLA at Tengwe Base in Mozambique.
After training, he chose to educate comrades on basic principles of war and ideology.
In 1976, he was elevated to the rank of Camp Commander.
Cde Chipunza was part of a group of 40 guerrillas who were selected by General Josiah Tongogara to go to Romania after ceasefire for training in Public Administration.
