Excitement and pride filled the air at Bezu Secondary School in Bulilima East as the community gathered on Thursday 1 June to celebrate the official opening of a brand-new library, marking a major milestone in local efforts to improve educational resources for students in the region.
The state-of-the-art library was constructed with funding from the Bezu Development Trust (BDT), a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing education at Bezu Secondary and surrounding primary schools whose pupils progress to the secondary level.
The initiative is part of BDT’s broader mission to transform educational opportunities for young learners in Bezu village and neighboring communities.
Speaking during the official opening ceremony, Handsome Mcebisi Ndlovu, a member of the Bezu Development Trust, reaffirmed the organisation’s dedication to enhancing education in Bulilima East.
“As the Bezu Development Trust, we are fully committed in our quest to ensure improved education standards in our area. We believe that providing access to quality learning facilities like this library will empower our children to dream bigger and achieve more,” said Ndlovu.
The event also drew support from various stakeholders and sponsors, including Zanu-PF Bulilima East legislator Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu, who has been a key backer of BDT’s projects. Addressing attendees, the legislator commended the Trust for its unwavering commitment to educational development.
“We applaud the Bezu Development Trust for its tireless efforts in uplifting education in our district. Investments like these are vital for shaping the future of our youth and the progress of our community,” said Cde Ndlovu.
Teachers, students, and parents expressed gratitude for the new facility, which is expected to serve as a vital learning hub for Bezu Secondary and feeder primary schools in the area. The library is equipped with a range of textbooks, reference materials, and digital resources aimed at supporting both academic and personal development.
The opening of the library marks a new chapter in Bezu’s educational journey, with hopes high that such initiatives will inspire further community-driven projects and foster a culture of lifelong learning in Bulilima East.
