ZANU PF has cleared one of the aspiring candidates eyeing Makoni West – Cde Moses Ruwona – to contest in tomorrow’s primary elections, turning the race for the constituency into one of the most fiercely contested for seats in the province.

Cde Ruwona had his name omitted from the final list of approved candidates read out at the Provincial Elections Directorate on Wednesday despite him having been approved by the Politburo.

ZANU PF national political commissar, Dr Mike Bimha, has since directed that Cde Ruwona, a safari and construction mogul, be included on the final list of Manicaland candidates.

A letter dated March 23 and addressed to ZANU PF provincial chairman, Cde Tawanda Mukodza, reads: “Please, note that the candidate below was approved by Politburo and omitted from the final selection list: Moses Ruwona; Makoni West Constituency. Please, add him on your final list.”

The move has pacified some miffed ZANU PF supporters who were against imposition of candidates.

This now brings to three the number of candidates eyeing the constituency.

The other two are Makoni West MP and ICT Minister, Dr Jenfan Muswere, and Cde Mativenga Mhiripiri.
