A Harare woman dragged her estranged husband to court accusing him of assaulting her and demanding a reimbursement of the tuition fees he paid for her during the course of their marriage.

Elizabeth Chiwara made the allegations at Harare Civil Court on Tuesday.

The 49-year-old woman told the court that her ex-husband, Jerald Chingozha (55), assaulted her and demanded a reimbursement of the tuition he paid for her.

“We were married for 25 years and separated last year. He paid my college tuition fees when we were together. He always assaults me and demands his money back,” said Chiwara.

In response, Chingozha disputed the allegations.

“Grant her the order, I have no issues with that but this is not my wife’s handwriting on the affidavit. I know her handwriting too well,” he said.

Presiding magistrate Mrs Judith Taruvinga ordered Chingozha not to insult, assault, threaten or demand a reimbursement from his ex-wife.
