NEW: Mangwiro wary of Bulawayo Chiefs

HARARE CITY coach, Taurai Mangwiro, has described Bulawayo Chiefs as a dangerous team and is expecting a “tough contest” when the two sides clash in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Luveve on Saturday.

Bulawayo Chiefs are winless in their last four matches, and Mangwiro fears Nilton Terosso’s side might awaken on Saturday.

Chiefs are 10th on the log while City are two places down the ladder.

Harare City have one win in seven matches, their only victory coming against lowly Cranborne Bullets.

“The game against Bulawayo Chiefs is one game that we are looking forward to.

“We expect a tough contest considering that Bulawayo Chiefs haven’t been doing very well off late, despite the very good start,” said Mangwiro.

“They are a team whose ambitions are very clear, and they are a very ambitious team if you look at the kind of squad they have assembled.

“They are among the top in the country and that makes them a dangerous opponent.”

Bulawayo Chiefs, who held ZPC Kariba to 0-0 draw at Nyamhunga last weekend, have one of the best squads in the league.

They are home to a number of players who have tasted the league championship before, namely the Moyo twins, Kelvin and Elvis, Perfect Chikwende and Kelvin Madzongwe.

Chiefs have also unearthed a gem in 22-year-old midfielder, Mthokozisi Msebe, who has been the most outstanding player at the club.

On the other hand, Harare City have a blend of new faces and graduates from their feeder side, Harare City Cubs, like the vastly improved duo of centre back, Hastings Chapusha and goalkeeper, Kelvin Shangiwa.

In Clive Rupiya and Emmanuel Mandiranga, The Sunshine Boys have a deadly duo upfront.

Surprisingly, the team has been struggling and only showed some life in last weekend’s 0-0 draw against Chicken Inn at the National Sports Stadium.

Mangwiro thinks his side’s position on the log is not a true reflection of the performance on the pitch.

“Our concern for now is the precarious position that we find ourselves in, and this is despite putting up some good shows.

“What we need now is to grind out results and help the team to a more respectable position.

“At the moment, our position is worrisome, and it’s not a true reflection of how we have been performing as a team.

“We will continue to fine tune the team, and hopefully we will come good this time around,” he said.
