NEW: Manica Diamonds fire blanks again

Sports Reporter

DESPITE failing to find the back of the net for the second successive game, Manica Diamonds managed to pick their first point of the season after their Castle Lager Premiership duel against Triangle United produced no goals at Gibbo Stadium yesterday.

The Gem Boys’ blunt attack also fired blanks in their opening match last weekend when they went down 2-0 away to CAPS United.

Yesterday’s result leaves the diamond miners in the drop zone as they occupy 15th position on the 18-tem table.

The Mutare outfit’s faithful is expecting the team to pull its weight during this campaign after coach Jairos Tapera brought in new acquisitions to beef up the squad.

Another Manicaland representative in the top-flight league – GreenFuel – held visiting Herentals College 1-1 at the same venue on Saturday.

The two sides clash in a provincial derby in the fourth round of fixtures.
