NEW: Mbanje farmer nabbed

POLICE have arrested a 52-year-old man who was recently found in possession of 185 plants of mbanje at his homestead in Penhalonga.

Benjamin Musamuka (52) of Mateyambiri Village in Chief Mutasa’s area who has been cultivating the plants at his homestead was nabbed while he was in the fields.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Norbert Muzondo confirmed the incident.

“Police in Penhalonga received a tip-off that Musamuka was cultivating dagga in his field. They reacted to the information and proceeded to his homestead. The detectives saw him cultivating the plant. They introduced themselves and conducted a search in his house,” said Inspector Muzondo.

They found 185 plants of mbanje with a height of 1.5 metres.

 

He was arrested and he is assisting police with investigations.
