The Harare City Council (HCC) is constructing a state of the art mini-city within Mbare suburb, under its urban renewal programme.

Posting on its official Twitter handle, the local authority said it is working on a new city called Tsiga City under the Mbare urban renewal programme.

The mini-city city is set to have more than 400 shops and residential apartments, and works on the development have already commenced.

“Coming up in Mbare is a new City called Tsiga City under the Mbare urban renewal programme.

“The mixed-use development has 400 shops and residential apartments and the area has been fenced off to commence development,” reads the tweet.

Mbare has earned notoriety for mayhem and disorder owing to years of neglect by the HCC.

But, the recent developments and demolition of illegal structures in Mbare is beginning to give Harare’s oldest suburb a new face.
