NEW: Measles deaths increase to 648

Nine people died from measles on September 1, alone, bringing the cumulative number of deaths to 648 cases, a situation report from the Ministry of Health and Child Care shows.

The report indicates that 108 new cases and nine deaths were reported on Thursday.

“108 new cases and nine deaths were reported today, the deaths were reported from Matabeleland South (7) and Manicaland (2)

“New cases were reported from Manicaland (38), Mashonaland East (29), Midlands (21), Matabeleland (13) and Harare (7),” reads part of the report.

As of September 1, Zimbabwe had 5 843 confirmed cases, including 4 212 recoveries and 648 deaths.
