NEW: ‘Media organisations should be sensitive to inclusiveness’

MEDIA organisations should be sensitive to inclusiveness if they are going to have a greater impact on society, Zimpapers (1980) Limited group editorial executive Mr William Chikoto has said.

Addressing a WAN-IFRA Women in News Zimbabwe Alums Skills Building and Networking Conference in Harare on Friday, Mr Chikoto said:

“Government and other stakeholders have rolled out several projects that seek to acknowledge gender equality and empowerment of women and girls. This can be achieved if we understand inclusiveness to shape public opinion.

“Gender equality ensures that equal rights, opportunities and representation for all genders are vital components of a democratic system that values diversity, industry and social justice.”

Zimbabwe has been deliberate in empowering women to participate in decision-making processes.
