Medtech Holdings will change its name to BridgeFort Capital Limited as part of its restructuring into an investment company.

The name change is subject to shareholder approval.

“Conditional on the approval of shareholders, Medtech will change its name to BridgeFort Capital Limited. This shall be abbreviated to BFC,” said the company in a notice to shareholders on Friday.

“The name was chosen as it described the vision and purpose of the new investment company to become a strong bridge between the investment community and the business community.

Medtech said the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) has given its approval for the new name.

An extraordinary general meeting has been set for November 15, which will see shareholders vote for or against the proposed restructuring and name change.

Medtech is a manufacturing, retail, and distribution company in Zimbabwe and the company operates in three market segments: fast-moving consumer goods, medical supplies, and manufacturing of light industrial products.

Medtech has retail outlets in Harare and Bulawayo, and a manufacturing plant that produces petroleum jelly and glycerin, health, beauty, and personal hygiene products, and over-the-counter pharmaceutical products for the local Zimbabwe market as well as for export to Mozambique and Zambia through its subsidiary Baines Imaging Group.
