NEW: “Men should open up on GBV”

Online Reporter

MEN and boys facing gender-based violence and mental health issues should open up and seek therapy, a gender-based violence survivor has said.

Berita Saranji, the executive director of the Men’s Ego Safe Haven (MESH) made this call.

This comes as Zimbabwe will join the rest of the world in commemorating Father’s Day on Sunday.

Saranji said men and boys were often left out when gender-based violence issues were discussed.

“When we talk about gender-based violence, many people think that it is only women who are victims. Men are being abused by women and their male counterparts,” Saranji said.

June is Men’s Health Month.
