A MUSICAL show in honour of the late songstress, Chiwoniso Maraire, has been pencilled for the 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale, Harare on Saturday

The show has been dubbed “The Legends Night.”

Talented guitarist and music producer, Clive “Mono” Mukundu, is co-ordinating the show.

Mono was also behind another musical show that also commemorated the life of the late songbird.

Mono’s son, Takakunda, and Joseph Chinouriri will perform during the commemoration gig.

The show, according to Mono, will help keep alive the legacy that was left by such late musicians as Chiwoniso, Leonard Dembo and Dr Oliver Mtukudzi.

“Our local music industry has its own history. We have our own heroes and heroines,” he said.

“There is a need for us to constantly highlight their works so as to keep their legacies alive.”

During the show, Takakunda and Chinouriri will be singing Dr Mtukudzi and Chiwoniso’s songs.

Takakunda said as an upcoming artiste, he is inspired by the works of Chiwoniso and Dr Mtukudzi.

“I am being inspired by the work that was left by our musical heroes and heroines.

“Performing at an event in their honour is the only way that I can show my gratitude to them for the inspiration,” he said.
