POPULAR music promoter and businessman, Munyaradzi ‘Goldfinger’ Makombora believes that the local music industry cannot thrive without promoters.
In an interview with The Sunday Mail Online, Goldfinger said promoting music is not about gaining fame, but is a ‘social and corporate responsibility’ to ensure that local artists can compete at the global level.
“As businesspeople we should give back to the environment we are benefiting from. We don’t want fame, but it’s our dream to see our artists compete at global level,” he said.
“Content production is very expensive; it can cost thousands of dollars when shooting a single video and some of the artists cannot afford the costs.”
Goldfinger has endorsed Mark Ngwazi’s album titled “Chamugwegwedu”.
The promoter catered for recording fees and video filming bills on the “Chamugwegwedu” album.
He also helped Peter Moyo on his recent album titled “Mixed Bag Volume 1.”
Goldfinger has also worked with many other upcoming artists such as Tapiwa Samanyanga and Tindo Ngwazi, among many others.
Currently, Goldfinger working on setting up a new studio – ‘Too Much Power’, which will be based in Budiriro.
“The studio construction is at the advanced stages, and once it has been completed any artist can record for free and this can help the country in terms of new talent scouting,” he said.
