ENGLAND-BASED Marondera-born cricketer and founder of Hokima Cricket Academy, Kudzai Mutiti’s cricket documentary titled “The Love Affair” continues to attract global attention a year after its release.

The documentary, which chronicles Mutiti’s cricket life from his humble beginnings in the farming town of Marondera, has been identified for airing by the German Broadcast Corporation for next year on a local television station.

The documentary tells of how Mutiti, despite some setbacks, fell in his way in pursuit of his cricket dream. Mutiti always found himself back on the cricket field.

“Cricket has always been in my heart, hence the title of the documentary.

“The documentary tells a story of how I fell in love with the sport and within the highs and lows and highs of pursuing other things in life, I always found myself back to the support that is how I realised that me and cricket are inseparable lovers,” said Mutiti.

The Marondera-born cricket who currently plays for Great Houghton where he is also junior team coach, has described the recent developments which will see his documentary airing in German as a humbling experience.

“I feel incredibly humbled and excited about my documentary being aired in Germany. As a young man, my greatest desire is to inspire as many people as possible, regardless of where they are in the world.

“This opportunity means my story can reach a wider audience, sparking conversations and hopefully motivating others to pursue their dreams and make a positive impact,” said Mutiti.

Apart from its chronicling the love of cricket Mutiti holds, the documentary inspires young people to remain dedicated towards their dream.

“It’s not just about telling my story but showing that with passion, resilience, and purpose, anyone can overcome challenges and achieve something meaningful.

“If even one person feels encouraged by what they see, then this has all been worth it,” said Mutiti.

The documentary was released last November and produced by Dereck Manieca..
