The newly-launched National Migration Policy is expected to boost investment into the country, Immigration Department chief director Mrs Respect Gono has said.
Speaking during the launch of the National Migration Policy on Wednesday, Mrs Gono said the policy will help Zimbabwe achieve Vision 2030.
“The National Migration Policy will see the widening of immigration permits base to include permits such as business, research, exploration, special economic zones permit among others that will inevitably result in a significant improvement in the delivery of migration services to the general public,” she said.
“The policy is also envisaged to unlock strategic benefits that include the boosting of investment and regional socio-economic integration for the benefit of all.”
Mrs Gono said the policy, which is designed to respond to emerging global migration dynamics, will also address issues of human trafficking, refugee flows, xenophobia, brain drain and irregular migration.
