A MODERN mortuary worth US$30 000 has been commissioned at Shurugwi Hospital by Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Owen Ncube.

The nine-body mortuary was constructed with assistance from Chenxi Chengetai Investments, Unki Platinum Mine and Shurugwi Town Council.

“The new facility addresses previous challenges of inadequate mortuary space, ensuring that the deceased are treated with dignity and respect. The mortuary features a new cold room, solar deck and refurbished infrastructure,” he said.

Minister Ncube expressed gratitude to Chenxi Chengetai Investments for the generous gesture.

“This facility is a testament to the power of public-private partnerships in driving development,” he said.

“We need more investors like Chengetai Investments who are committed to making a positive impact in our communities,” he added.

Chenxi Chengetai Investments has been actively involved in various community development initiatives in Shurugwi.

“International relations are underpinned by the new dispensation of favourable investment climate, which attracts domestic and national cooperation,” added Minister Ncube.

“Furthermore, the generous gesture illustrates deep and long-tested strategic public-private partnerships as key enablers towards innovation, industrialisation and modernisation as we move towards the attainment of Vision 2030.”

Chenxi Chengetai Investments also established the Shurugwi Community Empowerment Trust Gold Milling Centre.

In addition to acquiring a mining area for youths, it is also going to construct a hospital at Shurugwi Female Prison and donate 60 tonnes of timber towards Government school projects.
