President Mnangagwa condemns criminality and calls for national unity

President Mnangagwa

President Mnangagwa has delivered his address at the 388th Ordinary Session of the Politburo that is currently underway at the Zanu PF Headquarters in Harare.

In his speech, the President called on Politburo members to lead by example in uniting both the party and the nation.

“As the conference roars into life, I call on us, the party’s Politburo, to continue to lead by example in uniting the party and nation, towards the growth of our revolutionary movement and prosperity of our motherland, Zimbabwe,” he urged.

He strongly condemned those undermining national interests and ongoing people-centered projects.

“Shame on all those who are denigrating our national interests, and ongoing people-centred projects and programmes. We are Zanu PF, and will not be deterred. We reject the harmful characterisations of our party and country,” President Mnangagwa affirmed.

Expressing deep concern over rising criminal activities, the President lamented the tragic loss of young lives due to criminality, including alleged ritual murders and sexual violence.

“I am disheartened with the sad cases of criminality often claiming the lives of young people and children, including alleged ritual murders, sexual violence and abuse, among others. We are a nation where the sanctity of life is honoured, celebrated and preciously safeguarded,” he said.

“Those who have a propensity to take advantage of our national character trait have no place in our country. Tiri nyika ine rugare nerunyararo,” President Mnangagwa said, affirming Zimbabwe’s commitment to peace and harmony.
