CHEVRON’s T20I skipper Sikandar Raza has been snapped up by English club Northamptonshire Steelbacks for the 2024 edition of the T20 Vitality Blast.
Raza, who has more than 200 T20 caps with the national team, is happy to be joining the club for the season.
“This will be a different challenge for me as I have loved playing cricket in England in the past.
“It’s always been a wish to play in the Vitality Blast and I’m looking forward to fulfilling that.
“I’m delighted to be coming to Northamptonshire,” Raza told the club website.
The Zimbabwe international has already made his intentions known in the Vitality Blast.
“I would like to entertain the fans and put a smile on their faces with as many wins as possible.
“Our first task is to secure a quarter-final spot and then take that momentum and belief into the latter stages of the tournament.
“Hopefully, we can lift the trophy in the end.”
Steelbacks head coach John Sadler has since expressed similar delight.
“He’s (Raza) very experienced and is a high performer on a global scale,” he said.
“He’s a three-dimensional cricketer who always has an impact in every game he plays.
“We know he’s also a fierce competitor, which will be fantastic for us.
“We are delighted with the signing of Sikandar for the Blast.”
