NEW: Plane crash, mine shaft collapse victims named

THE Zimbabwe Republic Police(ZRP) has released names of five people who died in a plane crash in Mashava on Friday.

The victims have been identified as Harpla Singh Randhawa (60), his son Singh Randhawa (age not given), George Sibanda (51), Nikhil Mahadik Milind (age not given) and Reginald Muchemwa (38), who was the pilot.

The deceased were from Murowa Diamonds.

The sixth victim is yet to be identified.

Police are presently investigating the cause of the crash.

Meanwhile, names of victims of a mine shaft collapse at Bayhorse Mine in Chegutu on the same day have been released.

They include Forbes Murombedzi (24) from Village 11, Musengezi, Zvimba; Tawanda Gavaza (28) from Village 11 Musengezi resettlement, Chegutu; Godfree Baro (27) from Mariyapera Compound, Durawalls, Chegutu; and Lloyd Mashavave (40) from Waverly, Kadoma.

On the fateful day, four people died, while 39 were trapped.

Nine mine workers were rescued and are admitted at Kadoma General Hospital.

Rescue operations are still underway.
