New podcast “Part Time Human” offers space for deep, thoughtful conversations

A fresh voice has entered Zimbabwe’s podcasting scene with the launch of ‘Part Time Human’, a show that seeks to go beyond the usual quick takes and soundbites dominating audio media today.

Founded and hosted by Jabulile Kyu, a creative strategist, psychology graduate, and cultural producer, the podcast is designed for listeners who crave deeper engagement – those who want to explore identity, culture, and the human experience beyond the labels we carry in daily life.

Speaking to The Chronicle, Kyu explained the inspiration behind the project.
“I’ve been in the media space for some time and realised that in-depth conversations about who we truly are as humans are rare. We often show up as actors, teachers, pastors, and so on, but rarely as the human part that unites us beyond titles. I wanted to explore that angle and connect it with identity, culture, and shared experiences across the different roles we play in life,” he said.

Kyu hopes the podcast will give listeners a chance to slow down, reflect, and engage with themselves on a more meaningful level.
“It’s about creating a space for introspection and understanding what kind of person you are, outside the rush of everyday life,” he added.

So far, the podcast has featured guests like fashion designer Yolanda Ngwenya and visual artist Abigail Hunda, with more prominent personalities set to appear in upcoming episodes. Listeners can catch the series on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
