POLICE Commissioner-General Stephen Mutamba on Friday commissioned rebuilt and refurbished boys’ and girls’ dormitories and hostels at ZRP High School in Harare, reaffirming the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s commitment to investing in education.
Commissioner-General Mutamba also officiated at the school’s 2026 Speech and Prize-Giving Day.
ZRP High School is located in Hatcliffe, Harare.
In a statement, police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the school had made a significant contribution to the country’s development through quality education.
“The ZRP High School has played a key role in the country’s social, economic and educational development through high-quality education and excellent results on the academic field,” he said.
The commissioning comes as the ZRP expands its education infrastructure, including the construction of a modern secondary school in Umguza district, Matabeleland North province, aimed at easing enrolment pressure and improving access to quality education in underserved communities.
The new school, to be built near Ntabazinduna, about 40km from Bulawayo, is expected to bring secondary education closer to communities that have traditionally travelled long distances to access boarding facilities.
The project aligns with Vision 2030 and Government’s commitment to leave “no one and no place behind”.
To mobilise resources for the project, the ZRP recently hosted a fundraising golf tournament at Gweru Golf Club, followed by a dinner attended by Government officials, business leaders and development partners.
Addressing the event, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Midlands Province Owen Ncube said the initiative had Government backing as it aligns with the country’s modernisation and development agenda.
The Umguza school will add to the ZRP’s growing network of educational institutions, which includes ZRP High School in Hatcliffe, Tomlinson Depot Primary School, Ross Camp Primary School, Mabelreign Primary School, ZRP Kadoma Primary School, ZRP Zimuto Primary School and Braeside Primary School, among others, many of which are recognised for consistently achieving top-tier pass rates.
