NEW: Police confiscate 304 bales of clothing

POLICE in Rusape have confiscated 304 bales of second-hand clothes stashed in a container belonging to suspected smugglers along the Harare-Mutare Road.

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the driver abandoned the truck after it was involved in an accident.

“Police in Rusape recovered 304 bales of second-hand clothes at the 172km peg along the Harare-Mutare Road,” he said.

“The bales were in a container of a Man TGA 268 rigid truck which was deserted by the driver after it was involved in a road traffic accident with an Iveco bus.”

Investigations are currently underway.
