NEW: Power wrangle dogs Kadoma Show Society

BATTLE lines have been drawn in Kadoma after some officials leveled allegations of graft against Kadoma Show Society (KSS) chairman, Mr Patson Madera, who has come out guns blazing to defend himself.

A damning dossier seen by The Sunday Mail Online alleges that Madera has a battery of misdemeanors.

Some of the allegations include, misappropriation of KSS funds, hiring private security details without the express knowledge of the rest of the executive members and convening an unprocedural annual general meeting (AGM).

Asked for a response, the belligerent Mr Madera dismissed the allegations as “character assassination and the work of detractors clutching thin air.”

“For starters, this so-called executive is a collection of people who are not in office for the Show Society. They do not represent KSS and are not recognised as such. It is surprising that they purport to raise these issues when they are a deposed executive committee.

“The one whose name is mentioned in the document is our former treasurer (name supplied). He was expelled from that position on September 17 last year. The reasons behind his expulsion were his failure to present financial records for three consecutive years that he had been in office,” fumed Madera over the phone.

“Add to that, he also failed to table audited society financials at that September 17, 2021 AGM. Life members decided to relieve him of his duties citing incompetence. Why bring the matter to light now after such a long time. It’s unreasonable because he’s just trying to tarnish my image.”

He added:

“Munyai is the one in charge of the funds, and it’s surprising as to how any other person could abuse Society funds without him raising the red flag instantly. He’s just an aggrieved person.”

A document availed to this publication shows that the formulator of the document was expelled from the executive at an AGM on September 17, 2021.”

While the power wrangle sideshow unravels, the community and stakeholders have been left disenfranchised, observers say.

The community has to benefit from the activities of the trade promotion enterprise, while stakeholders invest a lot of resources to sustain its running, they argue.

Voices in the corridors of administration point to stakeholders wishing to have their investment put to wholesome use.

Before the current rug pulling and mudslinging, a committee led by Mr Tobias Chodeva had clung onto office after its term had long expired, prompting the courts of law to decide on the matter.

The court’s decision ushered in the Madera-led executive, which is now also torn apart.

The other members of the contesting executive vow that they cannot work together with Mr Madera.

Another new executive was ushered in on January 3, 2022. That new executive committee is the one currently doing duty with Mr Madera.

However, their bid to have Mr Madera expelled was thrown out by the courts as their application was withdrawn.
