THIRTY senior learners at Queen Elizabeth School were last month selected as prefects.
The special announcement was made during assembly.
There was stiff competition for the prestigious posts.
Ten of the prefects were picked from the Science Department, while the Commercials and Arts sections accounted for 13 and seven, respectively.
During the inauguration ceremony, the prefects recited their oaths. They pledged their allegiance to the school and promised to perform their duties.
Each prefect will be responsible for enforcing school rules and managing a class.
For their induction, the school has organised a prefects’ camp to be held between February 17 and 19.
With the ceremony over, the leaders are now ready to execute their new responsibilities.
Of the 30 prefects, five are also officials of the media club. They are Tanatswa Makota (president), Charmaine Mutongwizo (vice-president), Panashe Mutumbi (projects co-ordinator), Emmaculate Zhuwankinyu (secretary) and Tadairwa Masunda (treasurer).
The other prefects are Shylene Nhongo, Tashinga Mutandwa, Ruvarashe Nyemba, Audrey Chimimba, Taidaishe Mbizvo, Tanyaradzwa Manhare, Tanatswa Mhiti, Gillian Mushaninga, Cher Gumbochuma, Salma Oswad, Tinotenda Chigova, Audrey Manguve, Tinotenda Nengeze, Magareth Chikwana, Shantel Kwerengwe, Ropafadzo Mwanza, Ropafadzo Rumbi, Tanatswa Runganga, Natalie Paketi, Daisy Ringoziva, Aquiline Mutusva, Sharon Taruvinga, Melisa Bikinesi, Charlotte Chiriseri and Karen Chirima.
The top five prefects will be announced soon.
