NEW: President Mnangagwa brings cheers to PWDs

A TOTAL of ten People With Disabilities (PWDs) from across Manicaland Province this morning received wheelchairs through President Mnangagwa’s donation to the Zimbabwe National Disability Expo recently.

 

Handing over the donations on behalf of the Special Advisor on Disability Issues in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Honourable Joshua Teke Malinga, Director in the same office, Mr Macnon Chirinzepi said the donation encourages PWDs to showcase their abilities.

 

“As we move away from retrogressive models, what we need to do is give PWDs the necessary support in order move towards issues of rehabilitation and the support that they need which is the a source of movement from one point to the other.

 

“We are also moving to the social model of disability which states that disability should be embraced by everyone in the society,” he said.

 

President Mnangagwa donated 130 wheelchairs to the expo and each province received a specific number.

 

Harare, Bulawayo and Mashonaland East each received 20 wheelchairs respectively, while the rest of the provinces received ten wheelchairs each.
