NEW: President Mnangagwa to attend the 10th International Civil Aviation Week

President Mnangagwa is set to attend the 10th International Civil Aviation Week (ICAO) and the African Indian (AFI) Ocean Aviation Week to be held later this month.

The event, scheduled for May 26 to 30 in Victoria Falls, is a platform for African States and aviation industry players to deliberate on aviation matters and is dedicated to advancing aviation safety, security and development on the continent.

Both the ICAO president, Mr Salvatore Sciacchitano, and the secretary general, Mr Juan Carlos Salazar, will attend the AFI Week.

Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona said the event will bring together key aviation stakeholders, including ICAO member states, international aviation organisations such as IATA, aviation industry leaders, airline operators, aviation equipment manufacturers and technical experts, to collaborate on critical issues shaping the future of aviation in Africa.

“I am delighted to announce that the Government of Zimbabwe, through the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, will be hosting the 2025 Tenth International Civil Aviation Week (ICAO) African Indian Ocean Aviation Week, in Victoria Falls from May 26-30 2025,” he said.

“It is highly anticipated that the AFI Week 2025 will be hosted under the patronage of His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde Dr ED Mnangagwa. Both the president of ICAO, His Excellency, Mr S Sciacchitano and the secretary general of ICAO, His Excellency, Mr JC Salazar will also attend the AFI Week 2025.

“The AFI Week is an annual event that is hosted by ICAO, in partnership with its 54 Member States in the African region. This particular event is a platform for African States and aviation industry players to deliberate on aviation matters.

“The event is dedicated to advancing aviation safety, security and development. It will bring together key aviation stakeholders, including ICAO Member States, international aviation organisations such as IATA among others, aviation industry leaders, airline operators, aviation equipment manufacturers and technical experts, to collaborate on critical issues shaping the future of aviation in Africa.”
