NEW: Presidential borehole scheme gathers pace

THE Presidential Borehole Drilling Scheme is gathering momentum with 18 boreholes having been drilled in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza and an additional two expected to be drilled in the same area. 

In a statement on Wednesday, Harare Metropolitan Province said Zengeza, Seke North, and Seke South were also going to benefit from the Presidential Scheme. 

“18 boreholes have so far been drilled in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza under the Presidential Borehole Drilling Scheme, two more are to be added to make them 20. Zengeza, Seke North and South are next targeted areas for the same programme,” reads part of the statement. 

Under the Presidential Scheme, boreholes are also being drilled in Caledonia, with at least 40 expected to be installed in the area. 

It added: 

“Presidential Borehole Drilling Scheme has commenced in Caledonia. The first borehole was drilled yesterday at Royal KK in Eastview. An average of 40 boreholes will be drilled in the area.”
